Forlorn Hope I have gone off Death Metal & Black Metal over the years, but this grabbed my attention. Excellent vocals, sludgy guitars, good speed and riff changes gives Altarage a sound that is not tinnie (colloquial term) - unlike most Black Metal bands. Favorite track: Altars.

about

IRON BONEHEAD PRODUCTIONS is proud to present the debut record of a newcomer that'll soon be spoken of far and wide: ALTARAGE and their MMXV 7" EP. Much like labelmates HIC IACET and SACRIFICIO, ALTARAGE hail from Spain and are a conjuration of musicians with veteran status in the metal underground. However, ALTARAGE are perhaps a darker, even-more-uncompromising band: MMXV literally sounds like its cover looks. A world-eating vortex of blown-out bestial grind and juddering, volcanic down-tempo surges, vocals less like anything emanating from a human and more the sound of a derelict factory's soul being torn apart, the rusted-over fuselage of each of the two songs stripped to its very core, primitive yet transcendental - ALTARAGE are black/death defiance incarnate. Best to dive deeply into MMXV now, for a full-length follows later this year...
